In addition to the below outpatient services, we also offer a wide variety of inpatient services at Carrus Health Specialty Hospital, including specific medical and rehabilitation programs, depending on you or your loved one's condition. This includes programs designed to address the unique needs of those who have suffered a stroke, heart attack, amputation, brain injury, or other complex medical problem.
Outpatient specialty services we offer our patients at Carrus Health Specialty Hospital include:
IV Infusion
IV treatments allow patients to receive medication or nutrients quickly by delivering these fluids into their veins and directly into their bloodstream.
Patients may benefit from IV infusion when a physician orders it for medical conditions such as:
- Autoimmune disorders
- Blood disorders, such as anemia
- Dehydration
- Gastrointestinal disorders, such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
- Infections
- Malnutrition
When a condition is severe or the treatment needs to be fast-acting, doctors may prefer IV infusion. Providing the needed medication intravenously is the fastest method for circulating it throughout a patient’s body. This bypasses the digestive tract, which slows down delivery and can potentially change some medicines' potency. IV infusion also allows the use of more concentrated dosages – in contrast to other methods of administration, which are less efficient at quickly raising blood serum concentrations to recommended therapeutic ranges.
The most common types of IV therapy our rehabilitation patients require include:
- Antibiotic IV therapy – When a serious infection arises, it is important to be treated as soon as possible. It’s not always best to wait for oral-based medication to kick in. Antibiotic IV therapy often provides faster relief from symptoms, depending on the needs of the patient.
- Hydration IV therapy – Intravenous fluid replacement is the quickest way to get fluids, such as water and electrolytes, back into the body when a person is severely dehydrated.
- Blood transfusions – A blood transfusion may be required after trauma or medical conditions that result in anemia, such as leukemia or kidney disease.

Radiology
Carrus Health Specialty Hospital patients can get the imaging services they need, in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Our radiology services include:
A CT scan can help diagnose and monitor a variety of diseases. It is a computerized procedure that uses X-rays to examine the body’s interior, creating detailed cross-sectional images of internal tissues and structures. The CT scanner resembles a doughnut with an opening in its center that you lay in as it rotates around your body, capturing highly detailed images of internal tissue and structures. CT scan results are interpreted by specially trained radiologists.
X-rays are a common type of medical imaging that can reveal structural problems, such as broken bones, as well as issues like pneumonia, arthritis, and cancer. When the painless X-rays pass through your body, they are absorbed in different amounts by different types of tissue; for example, dense tissue like bones shows up as white on X-rays, whereas the air in your lungs appears black.
Ultrasound imaging is a safe, easy, and noninvasive way to get an image of the soft tissue inside the body. Unlike X-rays, no radiation is involved with ultrasound. The ultrasound images are created by sending high-frequency sound waves into the body, where the sound waves bounce harmlessly off internal structures, creating an image. Ultrasounds can be used to monitor the health and function of internal tissue and organs, such as the heart, blood vessels, and kidneys.
Sleep Studies
Getting ample, restful sleep provides many benefits for patients recuperating from illness or injury. The benefits of good sleep include that it reduces stress, increases alertness, improves memory, assists with weight loss, and can improve overall well-being.
Your physician may recommend a sleep study for a variety of reasons, such as to confirm or rule out conditions that may be contributing to your lack of quality sleep. Signs, symptoms, and medical conditions that may indicate the need for a sleep study include:
- Anxiety
- Decreased libido
- Depressive mood disorder
- Fatigue and exhaustion
- Frequent awakenings
- Grinding/clenching teeth during sleep
- Hypersomnia (daytime sleepiness)
- Insomnia (difficulty falling or staying asleep)
- Memory loss
- Nocturnal eating
- Restless leg syndrome
- Shortness of breath
- Sleep apnea
- Sleepwalking
- Snoring
- Waking up tired or unrefreshed
- Unexplained weight gain
At the Carrus Health Specialty Hospital sleep lab, an overnight sleep test usually takes place in a comfortable, spacious bedroom equipped with a TV, Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom.
Here’s what you can expect:
- You will arrive at 7:30 pm or 8 pm, with your pajamas and toiletries.
- Before bed, a sleep tech will attach sensors from head to toe that will record data from your brain and body.
- Our technician will monitor this data all night, and a sleep medicine doctor will analyze the results to review with you and offer treatment recommendations at a later appointment.
- In the morning, we provide refreshments and patients typically leave around 6 am.
